The Indiana Glass Company was founded in 1903. Over the years, the company manufactured a wide range of glass products, including tableware, decorative items, and glassware for everyday use. While the company was successful in producing glass, it gained more significant recognition in the mid-20th century for its Tiara Glass line.
The Rise of Tiara Glass. Tiara Glassware became known in the 1950s and 1960s for its colorful, pressed-glass designs. The term "Tiara Glass" refers specifically to the decorative glass pieces that were produced in various vibrant colors, including amber, ruby, green, and blue. These items were often made in pressed glass molds, giving them their signature appearance with raised patterns and textures. One of the most notable characteristics of Tiara Glass was its high quality and detailed, intricate patterns. Many of the pieces were designed to be both functional and ornamental, often made in sets of plates, bowls, glasses, and other tableware. Tiara Glass became a popular choice for mid-century modern households, and many people used it both as practical dinnerware and as decorative pieces. It was particularly loved for its colorful appeal, sturdy construction, and affordability. In addition to everyday use, Tiara Glass became a collectible item in the 1980s and 1990s. Collectors often seek out pieces in specific colors or patterns.Common patterns from Tiara Glass include "King's Crown" and "Candlewick", among others. These patterns were highly detailed and stood out because of their elegance and distinctiveness. End of Production and Legacy. The Indiana Glass Company continued to produce Tiara Glass until the late 1980s, when production of the Tiara line was discontinued.
