Vintage CULVER GLASSWARE LTD Antigua Punch Bowl Set 22k Gold Accents
Up for sale is a beautiful vintage, mid-century modern 13-piece punch bowl set made by Culver Glassware, Ltd. The company is still around but this set is no longer available in brand-new condition - this is as close as you can get. Included in the set is a punch bowl with eleven matching glasses and a plastic punch ladle. The bowl and glasses feature hand-applied 22K gold foil to create the Antigua pattern with a proprietary process.
The cursive Culver signature on these items indicates that they were made in the fifties, more than 60 years ago. I found this set stored away in my mom's house.
I don't remember ever seeing it before. I'm assuming there were originally twelve glasses and one of my parents' friends who had a little too much punch must have dropped one of them! My parents were not big entertainers so I doubt if this set did much but sit in a cabinet for the last 60+ years. The amount of gold applied to these items is substantial, making this set a great value.Everything is in like new condition with no notable flaws. Even the clear plastic ladle looks new with no yellowing or scratches at all. The pieces were a little dusty when I found them but I carefully washed everything and it looks beautiful!
The bowl is 6" high with a diameter of 10 1/2" at the top, 4 3/4 diameter at the base. Each glass is 2 5/8" high with a diameter of 2 1/2" and holds a maximum of 5 fluid ounces. The ladle is just under 12" long overall with the ladle bowl about 3" x 5. I found this and other interesting things in my mom's house while I was cleaning it up for sale.
