US Glass Slewed Horseshoe 13pc Punch Set, Cupped Bowl, Torte Plate, Glass Ladle
This listing is for an Antique - Vintage US Glass, Slewed Horseshoe Punch Set including Large Cupped Punch Bowl, Torte Plate, Glass Ladle and ten (10) McKee Aztec Punch Cups. Pinwheel and Stars was originally introduced by US Glass circa 1908 and continued into the 1950's, though not continuously. LE Smith continued production under the name Pinwheel and Stars after US Glass closed it's doors. The pattern also known as US Peacock and Radiant Daisy. The pattern features large hobstars surrounded by fine diamonds and blazing threads with flowers between. The Aztec cups are a nice match completing the set. The punch bowl and torte both have a light glow under UV light.
They are likely older US Glass pieces. The punch cups and ladle do not glow. They are patterned on the bottom with a number marking. The bowl measurements are exact to the US Glass 1937 catalog listing. The pattern on all the pieces is well pressed and has fantastic reflection.
Measurements: - The punch bowl measures 13" in diameter, 8 3/4" high and 7 1/2 deep. The torte plate measures 21 1/2" in diameter and 3 1/2" high at the rim. The punch cups measure 3" in diameter and 2 1/4" high.The ladle measures 13 3/4 long ignoring the curve. Combined the set weighs 27 lbs 7.2 oz.
All the pieces are chip, crack and fleabite free. The glass is wonderfully clear and has nice reflection.The bowl, torte and cups have no notable marks from use or storage. The ladle has a few light scratches from storage. As with most pressed glass, there are light straw marks throughout the pieces, none notable or visible except under close inspection. The set is in excellent condition and amazingly beautiful. It will be a wonderful addition to anyone's glass collection or for gatherings and holiday parties.
