So just to be sure it was authentic I had already been told it was L. Smith Glass Company we had to use the identifying design. The glass wear at L. Smith was made by hand and has a very unique depth, look, feel and weighted substance.
This particular style is Glass Pinwheel and Star Slewed Horseshoe Punch Bowl and a Platter with Star bottomed glasses family. It is one of the more ornate ones I was able to find intact. Displaying it and drinking from it make any celebration feel effortlessly important. It is mesmerizing to have put as prominent decoration at the same time it is beautiful to drink from as well.
I tend to use a punch bowl whenever I have casual gatherings even if its just seltzer and juice(I put frozen berries in mine instead of ice cubes). I have also used punch bowls as an impressive salad bowls during their off season, but this one has been used only for special occasions and is stunning condition. The platter can also be used for desserts and appetizers.If looking very closely, there is an outside small chip/imperfection on one of the top corners of the punch bowl but there are no long feathered external cracks around it so it doesnt effect anything aesthetically or structurally. Looking at it you would have trouble finding any initial imperfections, but I like to list them for complete transparency. The company passed through many eras in time producing the popular glass of the day. The company was the first to make and market glass orange squeezers (completely cool and random) and first to make and market glass mixing bowls.
By the 1940s Smith became a leader in the manufacture of the hand pressed punch bowls but are rare to be found in this condition.
