A spectacular 19th century liqueur punch service, or use for fruit, desert.
These old sets are nearly impossible to find without a loss or damage. This one is the most complete of those we've had in the past few years, and it has 9 wonderful little enameled stems, goblets, the punch bowl and it's like, a ladle (which has a repaired break) and the original matching under tray.
Fun for guest service, stunning to display in your cabinet! The color range on this old set by either Legras or possibly St. Louis, is gold to teal blue, and each piece has been hand decorated with raised thick impasto in gold and colors. Dresses itself up for formal, or down for casual by the combination decorative style.
Service for 8, essentially, with one cup to spare just in case. Very good to excellent condition, considering age and type. These are from the Napoleon III era c. 1850-70 and would have been used in any fine home of that era. Service for aperitif (before dinner liqueur) which we also call "cordials", it is also suitable to us for a desert or fruit sorbet service.The set would have had 10 cups to start. No more would fit on the tray. The ladle has an old repaired break, as noted.
We've shown it greatly enlarged so you can't miss it. You'll just want to use your sterling silver ladle, most likely.
And if you don't have one, we can help you with that, too. I find no other chips to note, no cracks or damage. Measurements are noted on the photos, but the tray is large at 11" diameter, and it rises 1" in depth. Elaborate rocaille in raised gold and some little color florals added. Fabulous in a lighted vitrine!
