Offering a stunning American Brilliant Period cut glass punch bowl with stand. Very heavy, weighs over 14 1/2 lbs.
Measures 12 1/4" in diameter by 12 1/4" tall. It seems certain that this piece was made by J. Hoare as it has a swirled tusk collar a technique they seemed to singularly use. Also the piece has the crossed miters above the pattern directly under the rim ("eyebrows") which occur on many of J. This punch bowl has been used and has light wear on the inside. I found a ghost circle on the bottom inside of the bowl, however, I could not confirm this is a mark. There are several condition issues. First the knob on the base of the bowl which attaches to the base has a large chip, this is not visible from the outside when the bowl is sitting on the base and the bowl sets in the base securely and normally. There is damage to the sawtooth edge. Two of the teeth have completely chipped off and one has a large chip. Several other teeth have fleabites which could be easily ground out. Lastly, there are a few very small fleabites to the pattern. Even with the defects this piece displays beautifully. Thick, bright white crystal blank pings with a lovely resonance.Let me know if you have any questions. Please check out all the treasures in our store!
