Vintage Cut Glass ABP American Brilliant Period Punch Bowl Pedestal - GORGEOUS! UNIQUE AND RARE PUNCH BOWL!! VERY UNUSUAL FOR THIS TO BE THE CASE!! THIS PIECE HAS BEEN IN MY FAMILY FOR GENERATIONS - IT BELONGED TO MY GREAT GRANDMOTHER, WHO WAS BORN IN THE 1860's.
NOTE THAT THIS WAS AUTHENTICATED TO BE ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS AND ABP BY 3 MEMBERS OF THE AMERICAN CUT GLASS ASSOCIATION (ACGA) WHO ARE EXPERTS!! IT WOULD MAKE A LOVELY CENTERPIECE ON A DINING ROOM TABLE, OR WOULD BE LOVELY TO USE FOR A THANKSGIVING OR OTHER HOLIDAY MEAL!! We feel that this identity is valid in that Higgins & Seiter did market Libbey Cut Glass Items. Perhaps like Marshall Field, some patterns may have been designed to their specifications. (1) our pattern features the same type of pedestal and the beading as is found in the their Leader pattern.SEE LAST PHOTO OF THIS PATTERN IN THEIR PUNCH BOWL- FROM HIGGINS & SEITER CATALOG 13 - C. (2) The classic motifs generally are indicative of Higgins & Seiter styling. Higgins & Seiter patterns always feature optimum design and augmentation such as: double miter borders, beading. This is true of this design. We wish also to make note of the n. Otable matrix of prismatic motifs, adjacent to the dominant hobstar. It is an outstanding feature in the pattern. (3) Similarities to known Libbey patterns: The pattern has motifs that are reminiscent of Libbeys Ozella and also Venetia although differing. The workmanship is clearly among the finest of the period and the mouth blown blank and its superlative brilliance and white water colorless radiant nature enhance the already artistic, skilled and deftly crafted motifs. The motifs, as stated, are classic and the design in presentation is regal. The punch bowl and pedestal together capture ones eye and one finds himself staring in awe at its outstanding, preeminent appearance.
The quality is assured by maker and the condition having had only one owner is remarkable and noteworthy and renders this piece excellent. TO THE BEST THAT I CAN MEASURE THIS. Diameter at widest part: 14. Height of bowl: 7 ½.
Diameter at top: 5 ¼. Overall Height (Pedestal plus Bowl note that bowl fits into the pedestal): 13.
