Antique Cut Glass Crystal large flaired Punch Bowl and Seperate Pedestal stand HEAVY. This punch bowl was used every Thanksgiving at my mom's house. I was born in 1959 and can't remember a holiday without it while my mom was alive. It got packed up and has been in hiding since about 1986.

If I had gone from memory, I would have said that it was in perfect condition. As I wiped it down with a damp soft rag (it could still use a good cleaning with glass cleaner,) I noticed A LOT of imperfections. None of them are on the smooth side of the bowl so using it as a punch bowl is still no problem.

I also filled it with water just to insure no liquid would leak, which as expected, it did Not. I went around the whole bowl with my hands to find all issues. I photographed everything I could find that was photograph-able some are barely visible and too faint to capture with my camera. The major problem is on the ridge of the pedestal. On the top portion around the opening of the pedestal, where the punch bowl rests, there is a very large chip.

It has no affect on the fit or balance of the punch bowl when the bowl is inserted and rests on the pedestal, however. The bottom of the punch bowl has a round section that fits perfectly into the pedestal top and coincidentally (or not,) that round ornate notch circle has a chip much smaller. Those two imperfections are the biggest of anything found on this piece. The chip on the round notch protruding piece would not be seen at all when it sits on the pedestal. The rim of the pedestal, where a large piece is missing, is noticible when viewing from under and only if that portion of the pedestal is turned so it is in front of you. Of course, it can be displayed with that portion in the back of the punch bowl. I've tried to show images that give you a better idea of it. They are the last images photos 8-12. They are either close up images, or are marked with yellow, blue or red. I show the bowl and the pedestal both upright and upside down.

In addition, I also show in an image one area where the glass appears to be distressed crushed/scraped? I just didn't want to use up every photo to show just flaws. But - I also don't want anyone to be surprised either so I've taken many photos to show all sections. Most importantly - It is as beautiful as I remembered.

The first 7 photos are the general item images in a couple different lighting situations and from different angles. The describing and photographing of the imperfections definitely over exaggerates how "damaged" this piece is. In general, this is an incredible beautiful statement piece that is loaded with love filled memories, good luck and luster! I was planning on keeping this and using it when we down-size next year, but once again, found it to be too big for.

Anywhere I could display it and do it justice! This is just too special to keep wrapped up, so I thought someone out there may have a perfect spot for it or possibly may want to restore it to perfection. If not, I will force one of my daughters to take it haha. Please look at all the photos because they do count as part of the description. I took photos in dim light, bright light, natural and artificial, with and without flash to show the range of light on this piece.

Image 8 shows an area that appears scraped or crushed on the edge of the pattern. I'm holding a white piece of paper on the inside of the bowl to help make the damage clearer in the photo. Image 9 shows the bowl portion placed upside down. You can see the chip that is on the protruding part of the bowl that part that sits within the pedestal, when upright. On that same image there is a different tiny chip about 6 inches away from that first chip. Both chips are marked with little yellow w/red speckles sticky tape. The last three images (10, 11 & 12) show the same very large chip (approximately 1x1) - it is just 3 different views of that same missing piece. These 5 specific images show the flaws that are the worst, but they are not all of them.
