It is one of the finest I have ever seen. This one is on a massive blank. The blank is very high quality. It weighs just shy of 23 pounds.
It measures 15 1/4" diameter and 9" tall. It was likely cut by Hawkes. The pattern is very similar to Venetian by Hawkes. When Gorham bought glass from Hawkes they wanted the patterns not to match existing marketed patterns so that they would be unique.
The sterling is hallmarked GORHAM STERLING D M and the bell mark which means it was made in the year 1900. The dedication engraved on the sterling is Henry C. Schumburg from his friends at the New Orleans chess, checkers and whist club July 31,1902. It truly is a masterpiece and one of a kind.I HAVE BEEN DEALING IN AMERICAN BRILLIANT CUT GLASS FOR THE PAST 22 YEARS. I HAVE THE LARGEST AVAILABLE INVENTORY.
